Sesame is one of the most fatty seeds known to mankind. It is also known as a traditional treatment method with its protective and therapeutic properties as well as being widely used in culinary arts. Sesame is an important source of nutrients for health with omega-6 fatty acids, flavonoid phenolic antioxidants, vitamins, fiber and potential anti-cancer properties. It is a tall, one-year-old plant. It is one of the main commercial products in Ethiopia.
