Black cumin oil is obtained from the mature seeds of the plant Nigella sativa L., which belongs to the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). These seeds contain approximately 30–35% fixed oil and up to 2% essential oil. Originally native to Egypt, black cumin is now predominantly cultivated in Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, and India.
